Winter Shelter

August 30, 2008

We are now making enquiries about assisting with the Winter Shelters that the Churches of Croydon offer.

Last year, Margaret talked about assisting at the Shelter but time somewhat overtook us.  So this year, in an effort to walk in the path of some action, we are now looking into what we are able to offer and how we will go about doing it.

We anticipate that, if everyone in the group was able to help, the commitment (and it is not compulsory!) if you decide to join in, will be about once every 6 weeks.

I am only blogging on this just to keep the matter all fresh in our minds, and not to let it slip…

Sunday

August 30, 2008

We (Matthew and Liz) are not at Church on Sunday.  We were contemplating running 10k but then we realised that that would just be a silly way to spend a Sunday…

So instead we are down in the New Forest.

Hope you have a great time at Church.

Don’t forget: pray meeting this Thursday at Margaret’s.

Neil’s 10k Run

August 30, 2008

Neil is running a long way on Sunday.

10km, and that.

Not really sure why anyone would do that but please pray for him, that he will enjoy the run and be fit and well through and after it.

Mayonnaise…

August 25, 2008

Just to give another testimony of Margaret’s mayonnaise DVD rescue…
Our DVD of Toy Story is much scratched due to our 3 enthusiastic children.
Today we went to play the disc but the scratches failed it…
So we tried Margaret’s new fangled “smear it in mayonnaise and leave it for 5 minutes” trick.
Brilliant!!!
3 happy children now. Thank you Margaret. Thank you Waitrose Organic Mayonnaise…

So what an absolute treat on Sunday to hear Judith speaking!

Judith spoke about having a soft heart for God, both enjoying and glorifying Him, drawing close to Him, and knowing our place with Him.

You can listen to the sermon through iTunes by clicking here or through the Grace Vineyard website by clicking here

Please pray for Judith with all the responsibilities she bears.

May her yoke be light and her burden easy.

Paul and Judith

August 25, 2008

So, having spent so much time looking forward to spending time together for their holiday, and having had a washed out camping experience, Paul and Judith have had their first week back at Church – or as those of us who are not pastors would say about our jobs, their first week back at Work.

So far from as refreshed as they would have hoped or expected, Paul and Judith are back at the helm but without the benefit of the holiday as they hoped it would be.

We can’t change that bit for them, but we can pray that God would refresh and restore them as they get back into their Church.

Please pray for them that they remember their calling, their hope and their faith in their God who brought them to where they are now.

Pray for good health in their family and for valuable time for them all to spend together.

Please pray too that the leaders in the Church fulfil their responsibilities wisely and fully and that those roles which the leaders could be taking from Paul and Judith are removed from Paul and Judith’s shoulders.

Please also, too, as a Church pray for them continually and support them.  Let us be a Church marked out as one who encourages each other and our leaders.

Thursdays until December

August 25, 2008

On Thursday at HouseGroup, we discussed how we planned to arrange the teaching for the forthcoming Thursdays.

We are planning a ‘series’ (loosely so called) around particular passages.  Whilst we have ‘pencilled in’ passages for each person, please do not feel constrained to talk about that passage – you can discuss any passage you wish.  The following are only meant as options, not requirements…

September 4: Prayer Meeting at Margaret’s
